Match Report 25th February

We were really pleased with them yesterday especially Dan as it took him 5 Hours to get there! Dedication for you!

Report on GPCFC 25/2/18 Crawley Leisure Centre

GPCFC – Norwich 0-0

Asa Hems, Emily Campbell, Kieran Gibbons, Alfie Cambridge Sub – Archie Jones

Our first game was against the leaders Norwich FC and the players knew this was going to be a tough game; however the players have been training hard and were looking forward to it especially as we had all of our strike force chairs which were now operative. This has given their morale a great boost.

Our line – up was Asa in goal with Kieran, Emily and Alfie starting the game with Archie waiting in the wings. The game started as you can imagine at a very fast rate with both teams having chances. We started the brighter side which took Norwich by surprise. Alfie came off after 6 mins and Archie seized the chance to come on.  Alfie was able to continue in the second half when we took of Emily who had worked hard. Man of the match was Asa who had a great performance pulling off saves after saves. His communication at the back was vital. Asa said that it was nice to be Man of the Match but he said it was a team effort and thanks to Kieran and Alfie who defended well.  Both Archie and Kieran had chances to score but some good defending from |Norwich they were denied. The smiles on everyone’s faces at the end of the game told the story! Norwich had not lost a game or drawn before today’s game so it was a shock for them.

Credit to both sides!

GPCFC – Sevenoaks Development – 2-2

Asa Hems, Emily Campbell, Archie Jones, Daniel Holt – Subs: Kieran Gibbons, Alfie Cambridge

It took Daniel Holt five hours to get to Crawley from Bethnal Green due to train cancellations, delays and the station lifts not working. So having missed the first game he said he was not going to miss the second. This showed real determination, dedication and effort to get to the game. It was worth it for him as Dan Scored two goals which bring his tally to 5 this season so far.

We began the game brightly against Sevenoaks who are second in the League and nearly scored an early goal.  The goal came from a kick out from which Dan who moved onto the pass and scored a goal. Sevenoaks did not give up and come back with a goal 5 minutes later. We again deservedly went into the lead from another goal from our man Dan. We played more as a team but still made some silly mistakes and we were punished for not clearing the ball which made the final score 2-2.

We were really pleased with the player’s performance, determination and attitudes today. We all had a good day and left with smiles on our faces.
